Not only passionate and sickeningly talented, Patrick Wolf is also eons ahead of the rest of the music industry in embracing its truly changed nature. For £10, you can buy a 'share' of his forthcoming album, The Bachelor. Though I did buy a share a while back, and thus am not thrilled that it leaked so early, I am posting a song here in the hopes that others will be inspired to support this ingenious boy. If you needed further proof that he's the coolest kid on the block, SWINTON guests on said forthcoming LP.

Intelligent use of technology...

...is so refreshing. SXSW 2009 has published a set of three torrents which, in total, give you 1200+ tracks from every 'up-and-coming' artist involved in the conference this year. Total goldmine, though there is a lot of wade through.

Where else are you going to get months and months worth of new music, legitimately, for free? A few of the little gems I've discovered include a track called "Long Live the Queen", by Frank Turner, and a cutesy indie band named Hey Ocean!

Look what they've done to you!

One of the most amazing aspects of the era of social networking is the way it humanizes, unexpectedly, artists and figures that one believed to be totally inaccessible and detached from the world in which we, the common folk, reside. Lately, I've been on a bit of a tear creating artist pages on Facebook for musicians (and my favorite beer) that weren't represented. Only after doing this for six or seven did I realize that it's only to be done by the artist or an authorized representative. However, once I started to send out emails announcing that I'd been doing this, I received replies from two great musicians, Rupesh Cartel and Melnyk, who are not only okay with this, but encourage it, and have offered resources and assistance.

This is awesome because it cements their status as progressive and forward-thinking artists, but also because now I am all the more fervent in my love for them.

And so, in the hopes that you will take to them as well, here's a track from each. The Melnyk track is the first single from his newest LP, Revolutions, and the Rupesh Cartel track is from the soon-to-be-released Anchor Baby.
